Channel 4 recently published an interesting report on how much plastic waste the uk exports (watch it here). It’s good to see more exposure on the subject and we wholeheartedly agree with the reports findings; that the industry essentially knows what needs to happen to create a closed loop recycling system for plastic packaging and we would urge the Government to take the action required, namely:

1. Simplifying recycling for consumers
2. Introducing deposit return schemes on all plastic bottles
3. Better labeling (red and green dots)
4. Taxing products with unrecyling packaging
5. Putting pressure on Manufacturers and big brands into using recycled plastic

At Pakway we are able to process unsorted plastic flake, from which we can manufacture rpet sheets for the international plastic packaging manufacturing industry. Our flake comes from the uk and overseas (Imports are a point missed by the report), but overall, more recycled plastic flake from the UK can only be a good thing for everyone.’
